Compensation

  • $100,000 - $120,000 (salary based on experience).

  • Quarterly profit-sharing bonuses, percentage re-evaluated annually based on performance.

  • 10 days paid-time-off and 9 federal holidays annually.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of structural design for assigned projects from preliminary design through construction for residential, commercial, infrastructure, bridge, and construction projects.

  • Structural engineering design for a diverse range of projects. Such projects include both bridges and building structures, design of precast concrete components, construction and contractor support engineering, drafting of construction drawings, inspection and evaluation of existing structures, preparation of reports and calculations for submittal, coordination with clients, and other similar tasks.

  • Communicate with clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders about projects goals, design elements, and final products.

  • Small-team projects; employees will be expected to work individually on many jobs and will often be managing jobs from start to finish as the lead engineer.

  • Perform field visits to perform inspections or observations, prepare as-built drawings, review contractor’s work, and resolve field related issues.

Essential Skills

  • Structural engineering, design, and calculations experience and training.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Goal oriented; Foscadh offers flexible work hours as long as project deadlines are met.

  • Self-motivated; employees must be able to manage their own time and projects.

  • Ability to work with others in remote offices using online meeting software.

  • Ability to travel to job sites on an occasional basis.

Experience

  • 6-12 years of experience in the structural engineering field.

  • Experience with structural analysis and the design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.

  • Experience with residential structures a plus.

  • Experience with precast concrete and short-span bridges a plus.

  • Experience using RISA-3D structural analysis software (or similar) a plus.

  • Experience with drafting, specification writing, project management, and other related engineering skills a plus.

  • Experience using AutoCAD or Revit considered a plus.

  • Experience with construction practices or hands-on construction experience a plus.

Certifications

  • Maine Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain one within 1-month of employment.

  • Other state Structural Engineer (SE) license or having passed the 16-hour Structural Engineering examination a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering (or Civil Engineering with a structural focus) from an ABET accredited four-year College or University.

Office Locations

  • Remote work (company provided home office equipment)

  • Primary office is located in Orono, ME and some commuting to Orono will occasionally be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to stand on one’s feet for prolonged periods of time.

  • Frequently required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 40 lbs.

  • Frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Occasionally required to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time.

  • Occasionally required to climb onto first and second story roofs, ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
